Dave Brown


About Coach Brown

Coach Brown is the Owner of The Base Sports Performance and Director of Hockey Operations for Minnesota Lakers Hockey. 

Brown is the Head Coach of Rogers Varsity Boys Hockey and coaches Minnesota Lakers Prep Teams. He was previously the Assistant Coach for Wayzata Varsity, Head Coach of Champlin Park Bantam AA, Rogers Squirt A and Assistant Coach of Rogers Bantam AA. Brown also was a NHL Credentialed media member from 2012-2014, covering the Minnesota Wild. 

With Rogers, Rogers has won back to back Northwest Suburban Conference Championship in 2022 and 2023, while winning 5AA Head Coach of the year honors in 2022. In Brown's time at Rogers, they've had two Mr. Hockey Finalists, Reed Larson Award Winner, 4 All-Metro Players, 30+ All Conference players, 7 USHL Draft Picks, 8 MNHS Elite League players, and over 30 High Performance players. 

With Wayzata, Brown was apart of the program's first State Championship in 2016 and two Section Championships.

As the Champlin Park Bantam AA Head Coach, the Rebels had back to back Regional runs, District 10 League Champions, and VFW State Runner Up. 

Rogers Bantam AA team made their first BAA state tournament in 2019-2020. Brown also helped coached Rogers Squirt A to a District 10 Championship in 2021. 

He launched the Minnesota Lakers Prep Tier I program in 2019, coaching the 16U ('04), 15O ('05) and 14 U ('06) teams to being a top program in the country.

Brown also coached Varsity Baseball for four seasons at Providence Academy, including a Sectional Runner Up and first conference championship in program history. 

Brown is a Level 5 Master for USA Hockey and has coached in the Minnesota High Performance and Minnesota Tier I programs. He has lead skills development clinics for Wayzata Youth Hockey, Champlin Park Youth Hockey, Little Wild, USA Hockey and Rogers Youth Hockey. 

Brown has owned and operated Dave's Hockey Camp LLC since 2013 and has been President of Hockey Operations for the Minnesota Lakers since 2018.  

Brown has a Bachelor of Arts Communications Degree from California Lutheran University.
